Deck/Stew : This dynamic position merges the duties of a deckhand and a stewardess. If you're someone who enjoys variety, this could be the right fit. You’ll need to juggle tasks such as deck maintenance, guest service, and emergency protocols. Stew/Chef : If you are passionate about hospitality and culinary arts, this dual role is for you. Can I book all my courses through VYA?
Yes, we specialise in Stewardess Training but have partnered with the largest SA training academy in order to provide all other compulsory & skill courses.
How old do I need to be to start yachting?
Legal, 16 or older but 18 & older is recommended.
Can I be a Steward/ess if I am Male?
Yes, 100%. We have written and entire article about this, have a read.
How long does the training take?
Depends on how many courses you opt in to do, but anywhere from 2 weeks - 1.5 months.
Does it matter which academy I choose?
Absolutely! If you need a lot of guidance then selected an all encompassing academy, that has all the courses & support built into it is the best.
Am I guaranteed to get a job?
No, nobody can guarantee that but your efforts. We walk you through it step by step, your crew guide, from start to finish.
